Snoop Dogg Reveals Dr. Dre is Working on New Music for 'Grand Theft Auto VI'
Grand Theft Auto VI game could feature new cuts from the longtime friends and collaborators.
Grand Theft Auto VI hasn't been officially announced yet, but it will inevitably arrive at some point in the future as a successor to Rockstar Games' current flagship title. But whenever it gets here, you can count on it being in league with previous installments, at least in terms of its soundtrack, which will apparently feature some new music from Dr. Dre.
Though he's reluctant to get into any specifics, longtime friend and collaborator, Snoop Dogg, claims the producer-turned-headphone magnate is back in the studio and working on contribution to the upcoming Grand Theft Auto sequel. "I do know he’s making great fucking music. And some of his music is connected to the GTA game that’s coming out. So I think that that will be the way that his music will be released, through the GTA video game," Snoop says in a recent interview for Rolling Stone's Music Now podcast. The rapper noted he was also featured on some of the songs Dre was working on.
Rockstar declined to comment, of course, but calls for a new chapter in the still-expanding Grand Theft Auto universe have been around for years. And rumors of some of form of reveal have been swirling since the announcement of a remastered trilogy of previous entries in the series, bumping the graphics and gameplay on Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas. Some even suspect a proper announcement will arrive by the end of this year.
Meanwhile, just past New Years, Snoop and Dre are set as the headliners for this season's Super Bowl halftime performance, where they'll take the stage with Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, and Eminem.
Hold tight for updates on the next Grand Theft Auto game in the weeks and months ahead.
