The Houston production collective (comprising OG Ron C, DJ Candlestick, and Slim K,) has treated When I Get Home to a requisite chopped (never slopped) remix, sedating the album's 19 tracks with twisted time stretches and bent, but never broken, pitches. The Solange salute follows recent recalibrations of 2019 projects from Take Off, Future, and Smino. Earlier this year, they worked with Barry Jenkins on a Houston-stamped companion to If Beale Street Could Talk, blending elements from the film's score with their own warped-to-a-crawl takes on modern and hall-of-fame soul standards.
