Spillage Village Unleashes Somber "End of Daze" Music Video
Spillage Village might be dropping a collective album soon.
J. Cole's Dreamville has had an ambitious run over the past few years. Most recently, Atlanta rappers J.I.D. and EarthGang have breathed life into the artsy collective. Today, Spillage Village returns with a new single "End of Daze." If you're just catching up, Spillage Village comprised of J.I.D, EarthGang, 6LACK, Mereba, Jurdan Bryant, Hollywood JB and Benji emerged during the early '00s.
The latest release is a bit melancholy, it was written during and for the pandemic. It's refreshing to hear it as protests have been taking place in the United States and across the globe over the past few weeks.
If you've been keeping score, EarthGang tweeted two months ago that an album was on the way from Spillage Village. The group also shared that it'd be titled Spiligion.
Packed with an eery, off-putting vibe, "End of Daze" is a reflective track that features appearances by Mereba, Jurdan Bryant, and Hollywood JB. Production credits go to Mike Dean and J. Cole's longterm producer Elite.
In an accompanying music video, 2020's biggest moments are highlighted including Kobe Bryant's death, the unjust killings of Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery and the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the video, the crew watches as a television set plays 2020 live. Yet, the end of the visual features a beautiful shot of Olu gripping and playing a guitar. This moment reminds viewers joy and happiness are patiently waiting on the other side once the pandemic comes to an end.
