Yasiin Bey's Bars Meet Al Green Instrumentals on 'The Yasiin Green Project' Mashup Tape

Altered 715x715

Altered Crates mashed up Yasiin Bey and Al Green instrumentals for their newest project.

Altered Crates has released a new project called The Yasiin Green Project. The 25-minute project blends the work of Yasiin Bey with the Reverend Al Green. The project is available for streaming and purchase on Bandcamp. Maryland native Kev Brown, a founder of the Low Budget Crew, produced the project.

A blurb for the project reads: "Uniting the reclusive Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def with the legend of Soul, The Reverend Al Green, to bring you Love & Happiness in the Next Universe. Guest appearances by Common, Jay Electronica & J. Cole."

"Kev Brown's incredible instrumentals from "The Alexander Green Project," sampling Al Green on every track, provided the inspiration and the backdrop for "The Yasiin Green Project." This is our tribute to the underappreciated underground legend, Kev Brown."

Previous blend tapes include Dark Side of the WuWu-Tang Clan vs. Pink Floyd, Wonders of a Cold World, which puts J. Cole on beats from fellow North Carolinian 9th Wonder. Most recently, Altered Crates released A Freddie Christmas Album, which pairs Freddie Gibbs with Nashville producer Amerigo Gazaway. Before that, the DJs released Otis Benjamin, a mash-up of Madlib production and Andre 3000 verses. Additionally, Altered Crates produced The Premier Hussle, mashing up vocals from the late Nipsey Hussle with production from the legendary DJ Premier.
