Wax Poetics Announces Relaunch with Crowdfunding Campaign
The iconic magazine is slated to return in 2021.
Wax Poetics, the revered long-form music journal that shuddered in 2016, is plotting a comeback.
Announced with the launch of a crowdfunding campaign earlier in the week, the beloved hub for deep dives into DJ, sampling, and crate-digging cultures will return in 2021.
They're seeking a start-up bankroll of $106,542 for the relaunch, intending to publish two print magazines per year with supplementary digital content and features hosted on their site. One-year subscriptions for the aptly-dubbed "Volume 2" are being sold on Kickstarter for €64 (or about $76 USD,) covering the cost of two issues print issues, access to its digital archives, and exclusive deals on back issues (many of which have gone on to become collector's items over the last few years.)
The Kickstarter campaign also reveals the magazine is under new ownership, but will maintain its founding editor, Brian DiGenti. Former editor-in-chief, Andre Torres, is also involved, but from a distance, serving as a consultant for the publication's new chapter. The new membership-only version of the journal's site is slated to go live in January of 2021 with its first new print issue arriving in March.
You can place a donation to Wax Poetics' relaunch campaign via Kickstarter today. Hold tight for the first drop in the Spring of next year.
