In a rare interview, Yasiin Bey discussed his new album Negus and provided updates on forthcoming projects.

Brooklyn legend Yasiin Bey recently gave High Snobiety a rare look inside his mind. In the interview, posted Wednesday (November 14) Bey delved into the creative process behind his new project, Negus. Physical copies of the album won't be available for purchase, nor will it be available for streaming. However, the interview revealed that later projects will likely be soon.

Towards the end of the interview, Bey revealed that the new Blackstar album — produced by Madlib — is "95 percent done," and that the follow-up is coming "soon, soon!" This only slightly conflicts with what his rhyme partner Talib Kweli said on Beats 1 radio last week.

“This project with Madlib is done. We just trying to figure out when and how to release it,” Kweli says. “So Black Star Madlib is a thing?” Ebro asks. “Yes. That’s a confirmed thing. I listen to it all the time,” Kweli responds. Regardless of how close to completion, diehard fans should be excited to get their hands on new material sooner than later.
