YG Cancels Surprise Album Drop to Mourn Nipsey Hussle's Death
The rapper announced he'd planned to release a surprise album on April 12th.
YG has been paying tribute to his late friend and longtime collaborator, Nipsey Hussle, all week.
On Wednesday (April 3), the Stay Dangerous rapper announced he'd planned to release a new album on April 12th but is postponing the date to continue mourning and honoring Hussle, who was shot and killed in Los Angles last Sunday (March 31st).
YG posted a statement on Twitter that read, "Now that we gotta deal with Big bro goin to heaven I will not drop the album this month. Pushing it to May." He continued, "LONG LIVE @NipseyHussle my brother from the other color!"

YG shared several posts to his Instagram account dedicated to the late artist.
"We went thru so much shit together tryna make it out of LA with this rap shit, But we always got thru it then talked about it & after we talked," he wrote in one post. "You was a real big bro to me no kap. YOU 1 OF A KIND!... I’m lost homie."
He continued, sharing some of the projects he and Hussle had been collaborating on. "We had so much shit in the works. TV shows that was being written, A album “2 OF AMERIKKKAZ MOST WANTED” that we tried to work on twice but it never got done,.. The shit we had is forever bro!

YG and Hussle have collaborated throughout the years, from their 2013 track, "You Broke," to the 2016 anthem “FDT (Fuck Donald Trump)," and their latest track, “Last Time That I Checc’d” off Nipsey's Grammy-nominated album, Victory Lap.
