A Tribe Called Quest Is Hosting A Celebration Of Phife Dawg In St. Alban's Park Tomorrow
As we continue to the mourn the loss of A Tribe Called Quest co-founder, heart and funny bone, Malik "Phife Dawg" Taylor in the wake of his passing late last month, love, admiration and remembrance have poured out in his honor. At just 46, Phife was taken far too soon leaving the entire community at a heart-wrenching stand-still.
Last week, the friends and family of Phife held a private memorial, which was live-streamed via Periscope. The following day, Q-Tip took to his Abstract Radio show to raise it up for the funky five-footer, hosting on-air vigil with the likes of OutKast, Chuck D, Questlove, Chance The Rapper, Chris Rock, Kendrick Lamar and damn-near the entire family tree paying homage.
Tomorrow, as promised, Tribe will host a public memorial in celebration of Phife Dawg's life and legacy in Queens' St. Alban's Park. It will begin promptly at 10:30AM, promising the first 250 fans a special gift. The forecast's calling for rain, but you better believe that we'll be there and we encourage you to brave the elements with us in celebrating such an incredible life and figure in hip-hop.
