Statik Selektah is quickly becoming the surest thing in hip-hop. Only days away from the release of his much-anticipated Lucky 7 LP, which will feature an all-star cast of vocal talent over his choice, vintage-tinged beats. That list of all-stars includes Action Bronson, Ab-Soul and Elle Varner, who can all be heard on "All We Need," the latest Lucky 7 single to drop ahead of its full unveiling.
Built of steady bass, a beautiful vocal loop and piano fills that flicker in and out of view, "All We Need" is is smoother than a buttered ballon. Bronson leads off the track, keeping things a bit more relaxed than usual. It's the beat that keeps center stage on this one--the MCs are the backing band (just peep the art above). As Ab-Soul's solid verse fades away into the melodic dives and dips of Varner's sweet voice, we're left with a deep sense of ease.
