New AFROPUNK Atlanta Festival To Feature Flying Lotus, D'Angelo, Santigold + More
After expanding to Chicago earlier this summer, the organizers of AFROPUNK have announced a new full-scale Atlanta festival that will feature D'Angelo & The Vanguard, Flying Lotus, Santigold, Public Enemy and many more. The new AFROPUNK Atlanta festival will take place October 3rd and 4th in the city's Central Park and in a press release, its organizers asserted that it "will aim to do for the ATL community what it has done for the Brooklyn community for the past 10 years."
Danny Brown, Twin Shadow, Lion Babe, Kelela and Thundercat are all currently slated to perform at the Atlanta festival. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, July 8th (tomorrow!) and prospective attendees will also be able contribute volunteer work as a means of garnering entry as well. "AFROPUNK will work closely with partners to provide low barrier volunteer activities and projects for youth to complete in exchange for a ticket to the festival," AFROPUNK said. "The AFROPUNK ARMY will create awareness for organizations in need, provide access to an engaged pool of valuable resources and help deliver a sustainable impact to communities." You can get more information on tickets and volunteering here.
This year's Brooklyn iteration of AFROPUNK (which goes down August 22-23rd) will feature Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Danny Brown, Thundercat and many more. That lineup got even stronger today with news that Death Grips, blues phenom Gary Clark Jr, UK rapper SZA, Jesse Boykins III and others have been added to the bill. Read the full lineups of both the Atlanta Festival and Brooklyn event below and get ready--it's going to be a wild summer.
