Death, Questlove, Danny Brown & More To Play AfroPunk Fest 2013 [8/24-8/25]
The squad behind the annual AfroPunk Fest just released the line-up for the festival's ninth year. With some okay family favorites like Questlove, Danny Brown and Saul Williams on the list, there's no question the weekend will sound great and have a little something for everyone. Descending upon Commodore Barry Park in Fort Greene, Brooklyn AfroPunk will feature not only a variety of musics, but will also co-host a bike show with Brooklyn Rhapsody and include a skate park, a 26-cart food truck round up, an art wall and a market to satisfy all your summer needs in one spot. While of course there are tons of acts to check out (and stay tuned for the final line-up with even more performers), be sure to catch Death for what will be a reunion of sorts after a couple decades of dormancy (and pass the popcorn with this recent documentary on them). Although the festival is free, if you want to avoid the line you can donate for a fast pass to get even more from the two-day event. In the words of the sponsors: "Come to AFROPUNK FEST 2013 this summer and sweat, skate, mosh, shout. Feel the music, free your mind, join the movement." We'll see you out there.
