Watch the Teaser for BET's "Soul Train"-Inspired Series, "American Soul"
Love, peace, and soul... the movie edition.
The American Soul teaser is finally here.
The 10-episode drama, set to air on BET in February of 2019, is inspired by the life and career of Soul Train creator and host, Don Cornelius.
The series chronicles Cornelius' entrepreneurial rise, his Soul Train dancers, crew, and the musicians at the helm of the program's rise in 1970s Hollywood, and how it defined and documented black culture in America.
Sinqua Walls stars as Cornelius, alongside an ensemble cast that includes Kelly Rowland as Gladys Knight —who played a part in the national syndication of Soul Train during its early aughts.
Kelly Price plays Brianne Clarke, a series regular, accompanied by Jason Dirden, Iantha Richardson, Christopher Jefferson, Katlyn Nichol and Jelani Winston.
