The Spanish boom-bap production trio known as Cookin Soul just released the first episode of their new web series, "New Waves Golden Vibes," a short audiovisual experience paired with new instrumentals meant evoke the sound of what's affectionately known as golden era hip-hop. Best known for the deftly chopped up soul samples on their mixtapes, the series parlays the Cookin' Soul mashup style into an interesting visual product, and we're looking forward to seeing what upcoming episodes will look like. It's not an entirely original concept but the scenic tours through snowy Amsterdam streets on a record-hunting/vintage gear-shopping expedition - shot entirely with an iPhone 5, no less - are worth a look, and the classic Cookin Soul beat is characteristically laid-back and enjoyable.
