Pass The Popcorn: Amy Winehouse Documentary Goes To Cannes
The untitled Amy Winehouse documentary helmed by director Asif Kapadia and producer James Gay-Rees - the minds behind the 2010 documentary Senna - is slated for the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. The documentary presented by Universal's Focus Features International will reportedly tap previously unseen footage of the singer to illustrate her anomalous talent and troubled life. The producers will spend their time at Cannes shopping the documentary to international buyers. The film is a bright spot following the singer's untimely death in 2011 after a meteoric rise triggered by the release of her 2006 LP Back To Black - a record that made waves internationally and established Amy Winehouse as a force to be reckoned with.
