Amy Winehouse Foundation Announces 'Back To Black' Cover Contest
Last week, Amy Winehouse's Back To Black hit the 10-years-in-rotation mark. Sadly, outside of her debut album Frank and last year's critically-adored Amy doc, it is all we have left to remember the modern soul giant by.
Now Island Records is teaming up with The Amy Winehouse Foundation (started by the late singer's father, Mitch, with the mission of providing support and therapy for children and young adults suffering from drug and alcohol dependency, whether their own or that of a parent's) to encourage Winehouse fans to brush of their vocal chops and turn in a cover of their favorite track for an opportunity to win studio time with legends like Salaam Remi and Mark Ronson, each of which worked closely with Winehouse on her sophomore stunner, no slump in sight.
Contestants are encouraged to download instrumentals of "Back to Black," "Rehab," "Tears Dry on Their Own" and "Just Friends," and submit their takes via Youtube and Twitter with #BackToBlack10 tag. The contest is currently open and will run until January 31st, 2017. Peep Remi's breakdown of the contest rules and procedures in the clip below.
