Atatiana Jefferson, a 28-year-old in Fort Worth, was shot in her home after her neighbor, James Smith, called the Fort Worth police number for non-emergencies about Jefferson's home around 2 a.m. Saturday, according to CBS News.
"I called because I was concerned for my neighbors," Smith said, adding that the front doors to Jefferson's house had been open for some time and he hadn't seen anybody moving around in the house.
After the shooting took place, Fort Worth police released body camera video showing an officer outside Jefferson's house with a flash light.

The officer can be heard telling someone to put their hands up and show their hands before a gunshot is fired. However, the officer never identified himself as police on the video before firing a shot into a window that resulted in Jefferson's death. The 28-year-old's nephew was present when the shooting occurred.
Marquis Jefferson, Jefferson's father, has since spoken out on the shooting.
"I mean it's senseless. My daughter…had her whole life in front of her," Marquis said.
The shooting comes right as Amber Guyger was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting 26-year-old Botham Jean in his own apartment. During Guyger's trial, she was offered forgiveness from Jean's father, and received a hug from Tammy Kemp, the judge who oversaw the trial.
Marquis said that he's not prepared to offer the cop who shot Jefferson forgiveness.
"I don't want no hug. That's my one and only daughter. I'll never forget that," he said.
The officer involved is on leave as Fort Worth police investigate the shooting.
