Rippy Austin x Nasty Nate + Rob G. "L.O.V.E." (Remix)
Delivering a fresh burst of SoCal soul Rippy Austin offers a track dense with sincerity and one simple word, "L.O.V.E." An endless source of joy and pain, love is something everyone can relate to. Given the universality of the message it would seem that Rippy has chosen his words wisely. Written two years ago, "L.O.V.E" was recorded last summer once Austin had reached a point where he could no longer suppress the sentiment or sound clamoring to escape his heart. The track is one of seven the producer/singer compiled for his debut EP Patiently Waiting - the original take was featured around this time last month at The Revivalist. The remix takes the original and ups the sonic ante with Rippy out front, Nasty Nate on the second verse and Rob G. rounding out the trio with the requisite boom, backing vocals and effects. Revisiting the original, Rippy adds distortion and a drag reminiscent of DJ Screw that reduces down to an infectious dance track. While the message is as catchy as it is simple, Austin builds an ornate scaffolding of drum and bass around it - even repurposing the pitchy g-funk synth patch of the West Coast rap classic as a melodic counterpoint - to deliver a final product that is as gorgeous as it is gargantuan. Get some.
