'Bad Boys 3,' Now 'Bad Boys For Life,' Gets Official Release Date
For awhile it almost seemed as if we were never going to get Bad Boys III. So much back and forth was happening with the film, and push backs certainly didn't help to assure fans that a third installment of the popular buddy cop action comedy was actually coming.
But now we're finally getting that Bad Boys III. According to Entertainment Weekly Sony has changed the name from Bad Boys III to Bad Boys For Life, the name change indicative of the movie finally coming to fruition with a January 12, 2018 release date planned. The new title also serves as a reference to one of the many memorable quotes from its predecessor Bad Boy II (the scene in which Will Smith tells Martin Lawrence "We ride together, we die together. Bad boys for life").
Smith and Lawrence will reprise their roles as Detectives Lowrey and Burnett respectively, while Joe Carnahan (The Grey) will be in the director's chair (a role that Michael Bay previously held for the first two Bad Boys movies). Aside from that no other information is known on who else will be a part of the cast.
Bad Boys For Life has had three different release dates in the last year, originally set for February 17, 2017 before shifting to June 2, 2017. If everything goes according to plan this'll be the first Bad Boys movie we've gotten in nearly 15 years, with Bad Boys II having dropped back in 2003. With so much time in between the films it'll be interesting to see what Carnahan does with the series going forward. Regardless, it'll be great to see Smith and Lawrence on the big screen together again, and being the badass cops that we've loved since 1995.
As for Bad Boys 4 that one is still good to go too, which has a scheduled date for July 3, 2019.
