Banks' "Drowning" Gets A Percussive Remix From Dave B. Of Glass Animals
Banks has delivered some promising sounds via her London EP and there is no doubt that her fanbase is growing rapidly (especially since she publicly released her phone number for fans to call and text). Her latest release "Drowning" is a downbeat mixture of dim and micro-processed pop that leaves a perfect pocket for the singers lyrics and vocal style. Some solid remixes of the new Banks track have surfaced and we could not overlook Dave Bayley's. Bayley, leadsinger of the band Glass Animals, is a mastermind when it comes to arranging sounds (note Glass Animals slight rhythmic change to Kanye Wests Love Lockdown). The strong newcomers give us a spacey rendition of the original which reworks the moody R&B aesthetic by turning it into a bouncing explosion of sounds. The song is refreshed with a danceable beat that moves in and out of poppy pitch shifted vocal samples and some sick percussive elements. If you weren't a fan of Banks before, you probably will be now because this remix has an infectious groove.
