Ben Crump Plans to File Lawsuits For Over 100 Astroworld Festival Victims
The Houston Police Department and FBI are currently investigating Astroworld Festival and Travis Scott's involvement.
Ben Crump, the civil rights attorney has announced he plans to file lawsuits of over 100 victims that attended the Astroworld Festival last Friday.
Attorney Alex Hilliard and Crump plan announced the suits on Friday morning. During a press briefing Crump shared, "We will make sure that they get justice because this should have never happened."
He added:
"It is also about making sure Live Nation and anybody else who had anything to do with the failure here that caused people to lose their children. Nobody should ever die from going to a concert. In the future, safety must be paramount."
As of Thursday, nine people were reported dead, more than 300 were injured following a surge during Travis Scott’s performance. At the moment, the Houston Police Department and FBI are investigating the incident. No charges have come as of yet.
Kristian Paredes filed the first lawsuit on Sunday naming Scott, Drake and festival organizers Live Nation, he says he was trampled. His lawyer, Thomas J. Henry told CNN on Wednesday that he currently represents over 150 people in lawsuits directly related to Astroworld.
Additionally, Paredes’ suit asks for over 1 million dollars, it also claims Scott “incited the crowd” into actions that left him “severely injured” per Deadline. Drake and Scott continued performing despite the crowd growing in unsafe conditions. Paredes also says he was in front of the general admission section where there was a metal barrier separating him from the VIP section.
In a press release obtained Henry said the following:
“While we are all still working to understand the full scope of the Astroworld tragedy, I believe the damages suffered by its victims could total in the billions.”
