Big Sean Explains Concept Of 'I Decided' On 'The Tonight Show'

The evening before Big Sean's appearance on Saturday Night Live with comedian Aziz Ansari on Jan. 21, he appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to discuss his upcoming album I Decided.

The interview began with Sean sharing memories about his first time performing with The Roots in 2011, and the "rap fairy tale" of earning a record deal with Kanye West by rapping for him in Detroit. He then explained the concept of the album, which shows two images of him standing in front of a house.

“This is me, and this is an older version of me,” Sean explained, pointing at both images. “The story of the album is: imagine you went through life and you made all the wrong decisions your whole life. You get to the end of your life and you're at a moment where it’s like, ‘God, I did everything wrong. I didn’t work it out with the love of my life. I messed it up with my parents. I’m not doing the job I was sent here to do on earth.’

"Imagine something happens, and you get one chance to redo it all," he continued. "The album is a chance of having that wisdom of an old man while you're young, then going through life and figuring it out."

Big Sean's album I Decided drops on Feb. 3, and he has already released three songs from it: "Bounce Back," "Moves" and "Halfway Off The Balcony." He is also touring the album, starting in March in Houston, Tx.
