Watch Legend Bob Power Dissect A New Cut From De La Soul's Forthcoming 'The Anonymous Nobody' LP
Word has been mum since De La Soul capped off their massive crowdsourcing campaign with a little over $600,o0o in pocket to complete their forthcoming The Anonymous Nobody LP. Today, however, the iconic State Island trio has broke their silence by offering up another quick taste of the new record on this muggy Monday morning with a video featuring legendary hip-hop engineer/producer Bob Power (D'Angelo's Brown Sugar, A Tribe Called Quest's The Low End Theory and plenty of other era-defining pieces) waxing on his time with the new record, DLS's self-sampling scheme and even previewing a sliver of their Little Dragon collaboration "Drawn."
But what is perhaps most enticing of all, the new names added to the credits for the record, which include the mighty Pete Rock, Usher and west coast ambassador Snoop Dogg, according to Pitchfork. And while no official date has been set just yet, tomorrow marks the very first day of the month De La promised us their ninth studio record, which is to say, the next thing to drop from Pos, Dove & Maseo will either be another teaser or the album itself. So be sure to keep you eyes and ears on us, as we'll have the latest from the grapevine as it arrives. Head over to De La Soul's Kickstarter page to watch Bob Power discuss the new record.
