Soul Legend Bobby Caldwell & Jack Splash Form Cool Uncle, Drop Very Funky New Single "Break Away" feat. Jessie Ware

The road to Cool Uncle has been a short, but potent one, that is if you're not soul legend Bobby Caldwell and hit-making producer Jack Splash. For them, the journey began with a quick game of Catfish, where (according to NPR) the singer's wife reached out to Splash through a Facebook account they had created for their dog, making his dream of working with Caldwell real-life reverie. And while there's been no shortage of smooth-as-can-be R&B joints from the duo, today they've let sail on the their cross-generational collaborative debut via full and free stream of the album on NPR's First Listen.

If you've cured the jones in your bones with the bubbly piano-led groove of their Jessie Ware-assisted "Break Away" or doused your heartbreak with the Deniece Williams duet "Breaking Up,"Cool Uncle will prove to be a treasure, featuring guest spots from the aforementioned, but also Mayer Hawthorne, Cee-Lo and JD8 for the intimate Quiet Storm affair. Not just for the hopeless R&B romantic, but for the music nerd in each and every one of us, the album's official release comes next Friday, November 13th, and you can get hip to what Bobby Caldwell and Jack Splash have cooking up down below.

Once you've had time to sit with it, go ahead and pre-order the record on iTunes today and hope with all fingers and toes crossed, that this is far from the last we hear of Cool Uncle.
