Bobby Shmurda Will Remain In Prison Until December Of Next Year

Bobby Shmurda was denied parole last week.

Bobby Shmurda has been denied parole.

In a report from Vulture, Shmurda, real name Ackquille Pollard, had an interview with the Board of Parole on September 15 where he was denied for release from New York State prison. Per Vulture:

Pollard was “given a hold until the maximum expiration of his sentence on December 11, 2021,” the Corrections Department said. Before news of the parole denial emerged, one of Pollard’s lawyers, Alex Spiro, said in an email: “We are glad he is coming home soon.”

The 23-year-old Brooklyn rapper is currently serving a seven-year sentence at New York’s Clinton Correctional Facility stemming from murder conspiracy charges in late 2014. He was arrested at Quad Studios in 2014 and pled guilty to one count of third-degree conspiracy and one count of weapons possession in 2016.

Last year, Shmurda spoke on why he's not likely to fight for prison and criminal justice reform.

"I can talk to the kids, but I ain’t about to be sitting here protesting and politicking for no muthafuckin’ cops because them muthafuckas don’t care. They been killing muthafuckas since Rodney King. And people gotta realize this shit," he said during an interview with SiriusXM’s Hip Hop Nation.

"It’s not even about me going through shit, it’s about what they been doing for years," he said elsewhere during the interview. “This shit ain’t gonna change ’cause muthafuckas start talking about it; we gotta take action. And when muthafuckas start taking action more, that’s when I’ll get involved."
