Buscrates delivers the ultra mellow vibe of this rework with seamlessly smooth chords and splashes of synths that combine to create a melodic foundation built to compliment the familiar elements of a time-honored drum break from The Godfather Of Soul. Somehow Buscrates still manages to remain unflinchingly present across the track; not every producer can resist allowing their own voice to get lost inside the suffocatingly dope sound of a James Brown sample. Following Tall Black Guy's recent JB reworks, it seems Buscrates and a few other producers may be challenging their peers to think outside of the boom-bap box when it comes to sampling James Brown's catalog.
