Chance The Rapper, Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment Take Us To Church w/ New Single "Sunday Candy"
Chance The Rapper and his right-hand horn man Donnie Trumpet unveil a new sonic suite in the gospel-touched single "Sunday Candy" off their forthcoming Surf LP with The Social Experiment. Led by a joyful piano treatment, this new joint takes the gospel tradition and flips it on its ear, injecting certain trap sentiments, a dynamite horn arrangement and the rapper they call Chance's raspy croon, not to mention a hook sung by the incomparable Jamila Woods of M&O fame.
It's yet another taste of what we thought was originally going to be a project headed by the Chicago MC, but now appears to be led by Donnie, who has been carving out his own space in the post-neo-soul world. While The Social Experiment may have given you the "No Better Blues" as of last month, this fresh number will put the warmth in your heart to get you through these bitterly cold late-November days. Surf has yet to receive a firm release date, but you can be sure to find it here when word finally gets out. Go ahead and take a trip to church with Chance The Rapper, Donnie Trumpet, The Social Experiment and their new joint "Sunday Candy" below.
