Chris Dave And The Drumhedz At Jazz In The Round
Chris Dave And The Drumhedz hit London's Clore Ballroom with a set for Jazz In The Round last November at the 2012 London Jazz Festival. The untouchably dynamic drummer and his crew commence to blazing the stage with a mash of jazz classics and Native Tongues clips. The performance features Chris Dave on drums, Kebbi Williams on saxophone and flute, Isaiah Sharkey on electric guitar and Jermaine Williams on electric bass. They lead in with John Coltrane's "Giant Steps" and slide into Q-Tip's "Let's Ride" - a track that becomes a bridge for the band to stretch out over a subtly dense pocket of Dave's mercurial percussion. They play their way back into Kenny Garrett's "African Exchange Student" before jumping into the Headhunters' intergalactic jazz funk classic, "Actual Proof." They round out their performance with a little more Q-Tip. Take a listen.
