Chris Rock To Host Saturday Night Live w/ Prince As Musical Guest On November 1st
Moments ago, Prince announced that he and super-fan Chris Rock will be bringing the housequake to Saturday Night Live on November 1st. Rock will, of course, be hosting the show, returning to the NBC' flagship that first put his name through the screen. His Purple Majesty, however, will bless the music stage for just the third time in his roughly 35 year career, following 2006's performance of "Fury" and "Beautiful, Loved and Blessed" and the legendary 1981 appearance that introduced the world to the original "Turn Down For What?" AKA Dirty Mind's "Party Up."
Prince has, of course, dropped the two-headed purple beast that was his Art Official Age and Plectrum Electrum LPs late last month, both of which have been sitting pretty atop of both the Billboard's R&B and Rock charts respectively. Rock has a new flick on the festival scene in Top Five, which is already gaining plenty of buzz and was scored by our very own head honcho Questlove. As far host/guest combos go, this is the dynamic duo we've all been waiting for. Unfortunately, not much else is known about how the show will play out, but you can be sure that promo clip will be righteous. Tune in on Saturday November 1st at 11:30pm to see two legends of sound and sight collide on SNL's stage.
