Okayfuture Premiere: Computer Jay & Orfeo’s “Prototype” Cover
Computer Jay and Orfeo are gearing up for the release of their EP Standards and with Okayfuture's exclusive access we've gotten our hands on a track from the EP that also happens to be a cover of the classic Outkast song "Prototype." The original track already had a futuristic feel and no one can forget how Andre 3000 traveled from the planet Proto just to experience love in the song's music video. While 3k's version bares a more prominent guitar and a funk backbone, the cover may actually take us to planet Proto with it's synth based production which features waves of sounds that blend together to make a cohesive rendition of a groovy Outkast track. As the melody does not veer far from the original, you'll definitely recognize your backseat favorite.
In 2013 Okayfuture also premiered Computer Jay's track "Hardships" which features Orfeo and some spacey visuals. The song received much acclaim and was nominated for an MTVU Freshman Pick. Now that they're collaborating on a whole project together, the artists decided to make it a rendition of classic, recognizable songs from varying genres - not a bad strategy, it turns out. If you're digging the future R&B version of “Prototype” stream and download it exclusively via Okayfuture. There will be another single from the collab project dropping this fall, so stay tuned.
