As far as November releases are concerned, Cool Uncle is an unquestionable lock. For those that may be scratching their heads and flashing that late pass, that'd be the cross-generational collaborative project of one Jack Splash and soul music legend Bobby Caldwell. Last week they announced their arrival with the satiny love jones of "Break Away," which featured the lilt of London's Jessie Ware. But today they return with another luscious r&b gem, recruiting yet another titanic presence of '80s R&B in Deniece Williams and modern-day southern draw specialist Eric Biddines (of GoldenRules) for the infectious and immutably dope "Breaking Up."
Here Caldwell & Splash once again flaunt their inarguable chemistry, building a mid-tempo groove out of warbled, submerged rhodes touches and a knock that's wild and loose all at once, opening up the floor for Williams to lull poetic and Biddines to wax romantic (think 3 Stacks over a time-honored grown & sexy joint.) Hear what Cool Uncle, Deniece Williams & Eric Biddines cooked up below and preorder your copy of the duo's forthcoming self-titled collaborative LP on iTunes today ahead of its November 13th release.
This here's some cross-generational R&B alchemy at it's finest. Don't miss out on the magic.
