Daft Punk's Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo May Be Breaking Off For A Solo Project
One half of electro-pioneers Daft Punk might be breaking off for a solo affair, as reports of the group's Guy-Manuel de Homem- Christo putting in work outside of the French mothership have surfaced recently. A jumbled translation from France's Tsugi publication has revealed that there's been sessions with actor/singer/artist Charlotte Gainsbourg (recently featured on Emile Haynie's "A Kiss Goodbye" alongside Sampha and Dev Hynes) which seems to imply that there could be a more subdued, vibe-heavy type of sonic-scape to look forward to.
GM's been behind-the scenes of some of his fellow franco-funakters' most notable works, including Sebastien Tellier's Sexuality and Kavinsky's "Nightcall," not to mention putting in work with Kanye for the industrially-clad frequencies of his Yeezus opener. You can read the gargled translation for yourself below, but stay tuned, as we'll be sure to monitor the situation as more details are unveiled.
"“According to our sources, one half of Daft Punk, Guy-Manuel Homem-Christo, is currently register a solo album in the near western suburbs of Paris. Of course, no release date has yet been scheduled, but what is already known is that it will be full of guests on this album vocal solo, including the presence of Charlotte Gainsbourg.”
