A Dallas officer fatally shot a man after mistaking his apartment for hers.
On Thursday night, the officer arrived at the apartment complex she lives at after working a full shift and entered into a unit she thought was hers. The mistake resulted in the death of 26-year-old Botham Shem Jean. After the officer reported that Jean was wounded he was taken to Baylor University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Jean was a graduate of Harding University in Arkansas and worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers, according to the Dallas News.

Sgt. Warren Mitchell didn't offer an explanation for how the situation led to the shooting, saying: "I won't go into that information right now. We have not interviewed her...We still have a lot to do in this investigation."
The officer who shot Jean has not been publicly identified and was placed on leave. The Dallas district attorney's office is conducting an investigation.
Following the shooting, Earl Jean, Jean's uncle, paid tribute to the man Friday morning on Facebook.
"My heart goes with you my boy...never thought this day would come, wanted to be there for you always my boy...how can this nasty world take you away from me," Earl wrote.
A spokesperson for Harding University also paid tribute to Jean.
"We're all deeply grieved," Jana Rucker said. "He was just one of those people who really stood out, with his voice and his leadership."
