Artist Jamie Hewlett Confirms The Return Of Gorillaz

At the top of the year, artist Jamie Hewlett made Gorillaz fans brim with excitement as he teased new artwork for the animated four-piece's next project on his Instagram account. But little, if anything at all, had been spoken on the musical side of a reanimation. Then yesterday, the musical muscle behind the crew AKA Damon Albarn, went ahead and confirmed that he's getting ready to hit the studio in a big way and give us the ever-coveted follow-up to their 2011 record The Fall, which featured guest spots from the late Bobby Womack, ex-Clash guitarist Mick Jones and a Pharrell track that never saw the light of day. In an Australian interview, Albarn sets a September start for studio time and shoots for a 2016 release for the record and we're all more than happy to hear that's the case. There's nothing to hear just yet, but the devout can jump back and at least see some the new digs that Hewlett is working on for the next outing and hope that the drop comes much sooner than later. Keep you eyes and ears on us for the next Gorillaz update in the months ahead.
