Okayafrica Video: David Byrne & Co Perform William Onyeabor's "Fantastic Man" On The Tonight Show

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

David Byrne and The Atomic Band took to The Tonight Show stage last night for a glimpse of their upcoming homage to funky Nigerian synth lord William Onyeabor, performing his sunny anthem "Fantastic Man." The Talking Heads frontman and founder was joined by Sinkane (the musical director for their upcoming two-night RBMA exhibition ATOMIC BOMB! The Music Of William Onyeabor) the majestic Lijadu Sisters and Pat Mahoney for a spot-on rehash of the mystery man's work. As the homies Okayafrica point out, its a showcase 30 years in the making; a perfect warm-up for this weekend's RBMA festivities, paying a live tribute to Onyeabor's expansive and mostly slept on catalogue to compliment the recently dropped Who Is William Onyeabor? released on Byrne's own Luaka Bop imprint. So go ahead and get a taste of some sun on this dreary rained-out New York hump day and rock with David Byrne & Co as they shine their light on the Nigerian wonder's legacy on The Tonight Show.
