"To Have Met Such a Genuine Artist, I'm Blessed" - DMX on The Everlasting Glow of Erykah Badu

DMX on The Everlasting Glow of Erykah Badu

Suppose Erykah Badu's meant a lot to quite a few of your favorite artists over the last two years. Perhaps as much to them as to you. But rare is the opportunity to actually hear one of the pioneer's contemporaries actually speak to her influence and immutable glow. Over her birthday weekend, Badu shared a clip of DMX in a rare sentimental mood, finding the NYC rapper reflecting on just how profound The Badu Effect has been in his life.

Earlier this month, both Dark Man X and Badu shared a bill at the first annual Soulquarius Festival, along with the entire new guard of hip-hop and r&b including The Internet, Ari Lennox, Willow SmithBJ The Chicago Kid and plenty more. Currently, DMX is working on a new album, allegedly produced by longtime collaborator and helmer of the Ruff Ryderz sound, Swizz Beatz, who joined the rapper last summer at The Roots Picnic for a hard-hitting reunion, chock-full of shirt-tossing and nostalgia. They've also released the new single, "Bane Iz Back." Watch DMX praise Erykah Badu and her everlasting glow in the clip below. Keep an eye on us for the next broadcast.
