Wu-Tang Weighs In On Drake's "Wu-Tang Forever" + Official Wu Remix Rumored
If you're not already aware, everyone's favorite rapper from North of the border Drake has released what he describes as an homage to the legendary Staten Island octet in "Wu-Tang Forever." The track which bears the name of the tyrannical 8-man group, seems to have little to do with the group itself and comes off as a rework of the group's "It's Yourz" off the album Wu-Tang Forever (familiar right?). Now, it appears that group members U-God and Inspectah Deck have caught wind of the alleged tribute and have decided to weigh in on the matter. Deck's response was expressed through a set of bifurcated tweets:
And then:
In spite of Deck's mixed feelings about the namecheck (maybe one tweet is from the Rebel INS? Those dudes should talk more) there is apparently an official Wu remix on the way--at least according to U-God. As he stated in a Vibe interview...
“They wanted us to remix it and get on there so you gon’ probably hear another one with us on it,” says U-God, shortly after landing in San Francisco to perform at Rock The Bells on Sunday. “Meth did his verse—we all did our verses. I wrote my rhyme in probably 15, 20 minutes. We were moving so fast we only had about four hours of studio time. If I had some time to really sit down and get juicy with it, I probably could’ve got juicier with it. But I still do a nice one, I still do a real banger.”
After claiming that a remix is underway, with verses allegedly already recorded by the group, we'll see if this remix ever actually comes to fruition. In the meantime, check out BIG GHOST's release to get your fix of still-imaginary Wu tracks and Cookin' Souls remix of "Wu-Tang Forever." What a difference a day makes, ay?
