Eric Andre Critiques NYC's Public Art, Is Not Impressed By It
So, aside from proclaiming his love for Little Richards and wishing Looney Tunes' Roadrunner a slow and painful death, Eric Andre is also an aspiring vigilante art critic.
In a segment with Vulture the comedian took to the streets of midtown Manhattan to critique New York City's public art and, as expected, it's great.
Andre starts off with Robert Indiana's "HOPE" sculpture, sardonically stating the art installment should spell "f**k" instead of "hope."
"This s**t sucks" he offers as his last critique on the piece. He then tries to get other New Yorkers to offer their thoughts on the sculpture, which leads to some hilarious exchanges ("You look like a tator boy" is easily one of the best insults of all time now).
He then goes to check out Tom Friedman's "Looking Up," a 33.3 foot tall stainless steel sculpture of a quasi human figure looking towards the sky.
Andre's commentary? "The guy has no dick, he's embarrassed. I'm not impressed, his toes are rusting." He then checks out two other public pieces before the cops show up, and even gets one of them to offer their opinion on what art means.
But the best interaction is when Andre goes and asks "What does art mean to you" to some random dude, and he responds "Absolutely nothing." Possible special guest for season five of The Eric Andre Show? Hopefully.
The fourth season of The Eric Andre Show recently started and has featured appearances from T.I., Stacey Dash, A$AP Rocky, Danny Brown and Flying Lotus so far. Also, if you want to see the comedian in the flesh he's about embark on his Eric Andre Live! tour, the dates for which are listed below.
