Faith Evans Slid 9th Wonder Unreleased Biggie Vocals to Remix Their 'The King & I' Album [Exclusive]
Tomorrow, May 19th, will see the release of The King & I, a duet project from Faith Evans and her late husband/icon/rap phenomenon, The Notorious B.I.G.. Ahead of the album's debut, Evans dropped by HQ today to delve into the album, motherhood, her process and earliest music moments. And while we can't reveal the full contents of our interview with the 90s r&b legend (soon come,) we felt it was paramount to give you at least a morsel to hold you over.
When asked as to whether there was enough material/unreleased vocals for a second project of this nature, Evans gleefully explained:
"There are actually B.I.G. vocals I didn't use. We've been kinda talking about doing a reissue with a few more songs, or a remix album. 'Cause, you know, 9th Wonder, who's pretty known for remixing albums, I gave him the whole album to go ahead and do what he wanted to do with it. So, you know, you might be hearing that pretty soon."
So there you have it. Whether it comes to fruition or not, 9th is sitting on a good grip of rare Biggie bars to do his damndest with. And we're certainly hoping he delivers something along the lines of Black is Back!, his exceptional The Black Album remix project, circa 2004. We'll see what turns up in the weeks ahead. For now, you can jump back to hear the lead singles off the album. Pre-order your copy of Faith Evans and The Notorious B.I.G.'s The King & I on iTunes today ahead of its official release at midnight tonight.
Stay tuned for the full interview.
