Ferrari Sheppard Details Work w/ Yasiin Bey, Plans For Future Projects As December 99th
Ferrari Sheppard, a Chicago-based journalist, artist and founder of A Country Called Earth, has had a long and fruitful run as one of the only entrusted members of Yasiin Bey's inner-circle over the last few years. Recently, their creative kinship manifested on the track "N.A.W.," which was produced by Sheppard and credited to December 99th; a moniker that embodies their collaborative forces. And though their mutual reverence for another has been well-documented over the years, little is known about just what brought these two together in the first place, or what their artistic mission really is.
While on an extended stay in South Africa, Sheppard took to the Expresso Show to detail some of the magic that brought Bey and himself to be such close confidants and guards of each other's visions. Sheppard speaks to an email that was sent from one Yasiin Bey (who was still known to the world as Mos Def at the time) wherein the reclusive artiste proclaimed his admiration for Sheppard's work and insisted the two merely build towards a singular mission. He also hints at the prospect of even more force-joining efforts in the months to come, which should bring an air of calm to those bracing themselves for new material from the Bey. You can watch Ferrari Sheppard's interview down below, just be sure to keep your head on a swivel, as there's really no telling when the next installment will arrive.
