Frank Ocean's 'Blonde' and 'Endless' are Ineligible for the 2017 Grammy Awards
Hmm so it looks like an artist we all assumed would be cleaning up at the upcoming Grammy Awards won’t even be nominated. According to Billboard, Frank Ocean’s two critically acclaimed 2016 albums, Blonde and Endless are ineligible for Grammy Awards.
While both Ocean projects came out ahead of the September 30, 2016 cut-off for eligibility (Blonde dropped August 20th, Endless August 12th), apparently neither project was submitted for consideration. Even with Blonde debuting at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart (with the third highest debut of the year), it won’t be recognized at the February awards show. While a Grammy rep confirmed that neither project was submitted, we have no further details at this time on whether this was intentional or some kind of oversight.
The nominations for the 2017 Grammy’s will come out on December 8th, with the award show airing on February 12th - but again, don’t expect to hear Frank Ocean’s name this time around.
