"I’m about to drop the bomb with this Madlib shit" - Freddie Gibbs on The 'Piñata' Follow-Up
With a fresh new project out, Freddie Gibbs is already looking towards his next release. His latest project, You Only Live 2wice features contributions from modern giants (BADBADNOTGOOD and Kaytranada) along with more seasoned collaborators (Speakerbomb and Blair Norf,) and is Freddie at his finest. No doubt one of the year's best releases. But Gangsta Gibbs seems certain that the follow-up to the much-adored, almost instantly classic, Piñata, with Madlib will be just as potent as its predecessor.
Tentatively-titled Bandana, the long-rumored sequel project was somewhat confirmed by Madlib at a Red Bull Music Academy lecture last year, and during an interview with Complex that detailed how Gibbs wrote not one or two, but three new albums while incarcerated across the pond, one of which is the wildly-anticipated follow-up in question.
"Y’all pretty much know that I’m about to drop the bomb with this Madlib shit."
No release date was mentioned, but the world is certainly ready. Grab a copy of Freddie Gibbs' new album You Only Live 2wice on iTunes and peep his full tour schedule below.
