Gorillaz Cartoon Drummer, Russel Hobbs, On Hip-Hop's Greats, Cat Videos + The New LP
Last week we caught up on the missed happenings of Gorillaz' drummer, Russel Hobbs, since he was last seen on Plastic Beach with the rest of the crew. He gained some weight, soared to six stories in height, wound up a North Korean prisoner for a bit, but all things considered, seems to be in pretty good spirits according to a new interview in Puss Puss Magazine (which appears to be a very real publication.)
Here the cartoon band's cartoon drummer sounds off on a number of fairly lightweight topics; hip-hop's greats (Biggie, MF DOOM and young Earl Sweatshirt,) his favorite cat videos, demonic possession, and of course Gorillaz new album, which has yet a name or date of arrival, but according to some recent reports, could be done within the next few weeks. Hobbs puts it simply :
"You can expect whatever you like. What is coming will come, whether you expect it or not."
Truer words never spoken. Hit the link below to read the full interview and hear a playlist of feline-friendly frequencies curated by Hobbs himself. As for that backstory, revisit The Book Of Russel and hold tight for the latest from Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett's animated hit-makers.
