Revivalist Audio: Marvin Gaye...Drummer?
In honor of Marvin's Gaye birthday (today, April 2nd...go shorty!) Revivalist explores a little-known aspect of the legendary singer's career as a drummer for Motown's house band The Funk Brothers. Though he had recorded with a group for Chess records and ultimately moved to Detroit to sign with Motown imprint Tamla, it was Marvin's way with a drumkit that first brought him into the famous studio. Click through to read more via Revivalist and hear their playlist of Marvin's drumwork including charting Motown hits like "Dancing In The Streets" by Martha & The Vandellas, "Please, Mr. Postman" by The Marvelettes and "Fingertips Pt. 2" by Little Stevie Wonder (!) among others....
