Hear an Unreleased 22-Minute Version of Isaac Hayes & The Bar Kays' "Do Your Thing"
This Friday, November 25th, we do not merely celebrate Black Friday, but the final Record Store Day of the year. This year, like many before it, Now Again Records is rolling out some rarities to add to your collection this holiday season. For the first time ever, an unreleased 33-minute take of Isaac Hayes and The Bar Kays' 1971 hit "Do Your Thing" will make its way to the masses.
According to Rappcats, this previously unheard session was mastered directly from the original 2-inch tape and is slated to arrive with a bonus instrumental section (for the selectors of the world) and a booklet of liner notes written by Ike Hayes historian, Bill Dahl, detailing the unearthing of this gem. Below you can find a 22-minute preview of the cut (presumably sans extended instrumental break.) Soak it up today and get yourself ready for the vinyl release this Friday, available at all participating RSD wrecka stows.
Hold tight for more on this year's Black Friday edition of Record Store Day, as we'll have a full list of this season's most notable must-cop wax from around the web arriving in the next few days. You can also refer to The Shop for even more choice selections.
