Y'all read correctly. After 4 years of hibernating, Hi-Tek aka the third (that's right, third) member of Blackstar is rumbling back with the endlessly soulful romp "Where U Been" and some studio visuals to accompany. The track boasts some heavy string arrangements and some funky guitar chops over a classic break and whirling Rhodes embellishments, providing the beatsmith with fertile ground to put some words down on the heavy organic soul of his latest production. He doesn't quite address the absence or give us any clue as to whether we can expect Hi-Teknology 4 or even if there's an EP on the way, but it does seem that he's at least back at work, ending the video with the ominous "To Be Continued" tagline. We might not know exactly what the Cincinnati producer is/has been up to this last half decade, but you can try and catch up with your boy Hi-Tek with the visuals for his latest sonics "Where U Been" below.
