OKP TV: Watch Hiatus Kaiyote Electrify The OKAYHOUSE At SXSW w/ A Blistering Performance
You already knew that bohemian avant-soul crew Hiatus Kaiyote were well on the way to delivering Choose Your Weapon, the anxiously-anticipated follow-up to Tawk Tomahawk. In case you momentarily forgot how great they are, we've decided to let loose a clip of this standout moment from their electrifying stint in the OKAYHOUSE at SXSW as a two-fold effort to both a) remind you of their indomitable greatness and b) warm you up for that for what's about to happen when the new joint drops on May 4th. Although their performance was laced with glimpses of that new (very flammable) material, we also saw the Aussie music giants deliver a certifiably dope run of the standout cut "The World It Softly Lulls" from their debut record, a sweat-soaked and stankface-inducing performance that shook the whole damn street. It was everything you could ask for from a Hiatus Kaiyote performance, with lead incantrix Nai Palm flaunting her magnetic stage presence and haunting voice as the ensemble seamlessly transitioned from a fairly straight-forward studio rehash to unleashed sonic jam session, mounting to a deafening and chaotic crescendo that channeled some serious Soultronic energies and cast out a dizzying haze over the crowd that few recovered from. Watch Hiatus Kaiyote bring the ruckus to the OKAYHOUSE at SXSW below, but if you're itching for some more funk from the evening's copious breakouts, jump back and peep our recap for the full play-by-play.
