House Shoes- 'The King James Version Vol. 2' Mixtape
Another day, another J Dilla drop. This time House Shoes puts forth the sequel to The King James Version --included in our Dilla Day tribute round-up--, a Dilla sampling cheat sheet of sorts, mixed to brilliance. He gives you every side of Jay Dee's sampling regimen, taking you from his Jerry Butler/ Dionne Warwick old-soul days to the electric Kraftwerk-inspired projects of the latter half of his career. Its another crash course in that prolific sampling legacy the Detroit king left behind. And to be fair, the man could put out a mixtape of this sort every week and still not even scratch the surface of that unprecedented workload. But hell, if they sound this good let this serve as a formal request. You listening Shoes? Stream House Shoes' The King James Version Vol.2 from Mad Decent's Worldwide Radio podcast below.
