If you don't already know, Ikebe Shakedown is one of Ubiquity Records' most premiere cinematic funk ensembles. The group boasts epic horn arrangements --no doubt borrowed from Fela's 80 man team-- over the dirt of a muted guitar lick and a very Clyde Stubblefield-esque shuffle on the drums. Their latest drop "The Offering" is seven shades of nostalgic glory, as it harnesses the lush feel of Curtis' or James' compositions in a manner that literally makes you forget what decade you're in. Its timeless funk from the Ikebe crew and it's gifted to us from their upcoming Stone By Stone LP, which comes to us on the McFadin-founded imprint on April 18th. Go ahead and unleash this torrent of afro-beat soul on your work week with the stream of Ikebe Showdown's "The Offering" below.
