Is Isaiah Rashad's New 'Free Lunch' A Clue For The Next TDE Release?

Two days after TDE's president hinted that a new project may be on the way, Isaiah Rashad has dropped a new song on Apple Music.

"Free Lunch" has a similar vibe to an offering from Cilvia Demo, Isaiah Rashad's strong 2014 debut album after signing to TDE in March the year before. With bluesy banjos and stuttering drums, TDE's young gunner uses his effortless, countrified Chattanooga, Tenn. flow to lob boasts and paint images from his southern upbringing. The song, which is his second of 2016 after January's release of "Smile," is a reminder of not just Rashad's talent as an MC, but how much of a unique voice he brings to TDE's already eclectic roster.

Late Friday night, TDE President Dave Free vaguely tweeted a date: September 2, 2016. Fans and publications are assuming the post is a reference to the release date for the label's next album release. Would that album be Isaiah Rashad's? In February, Top Dawg CEO Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith posted an Instagram photo saying that Rashad's album was in "3rd stage creative," while 2DopeBoyz points out that in August 2015, Rashad  tweeted that he turned in his album.

"Look like we might be jammin out in a minute huh," he tweeted.

Presuming that Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q are out of the picture due to their earlier 2016 releases, that leaves Rashad, SZA, Ab-Soul, or new signee Lance Skiiiwalker. Unless the tweet is a reference to something else altogether. But in the meantime, click play below and let "Free Lunch" ride.
