OKP News: New J Dilla Single Announced + Donuts Box Set

Dilla Alert! Over the last few days, news of several new J Dilla-related projects in the works has leaked from various sources. First off, Delicious Vinyl and the Yancey Media Group--in the person of J Dilla music catalogue curator Frank Nitt--have announced a new partnership, formed with the express purpose of releasing what Nitt refers to as "The Lost Scrolls — previously unreleased productions from the considerable body of work Dilla left behind." The next scroll to be unrolled is slated to be the digital-only single “The Throwaway” dropping in time for Christmas. Officially credited to Yancey Boys featuring Frank Nitt, the track is built around new verses from (Dilla's little brother) Illa J and a tight hook from Frank over a throwback Dilla beat from the lost scrolls cache. A 10-inch vinyl release of unheard Jay Dee cuts featuring Jay Dee on the raps is also on the calendar for 2013, as well as an official release for the much-bootlegged Frank & Dank LP 48 Hours. In some sense the partnership has been 16 years in the making since, as Dilla's childhood friend, Nitt was along on the producer's L.A. meeting with Delicious Vinyl shortly after he placed the beat for "Runnin'" on the label's Pharcyde LP Labcabincalifornia.

Meanwhile on the other side of town, Stones Throw records announced today the release of their J Dilla Donuts Box Set; the classic instrumental LP broken in to seven 7"s plus a bonus 45 of the out-of-print "Signs" b/w "Sniper Elite & Murder Goons" from DOOM x Ghostface over a Dilla beat (see above). For a refresher, listen to the track "Diff'rence" after the jump and check Stones Throw for more pics & details.
